CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
No historical film is perfect. That does not mean they cannot be used for learning. Movies have the tendency to tell us as much about the times in which they were made as much as the times they depict. With these thoughts in mind, Reel History is pleased to make available the film worksheets below--free to teachers and educators. Each activity sheet generally includes ten questions on the movie and is supplemented by a corresponding primary source tied to the film's plot. Reel History host Jared Frederick has used many of these worksheets in the classroom over the years. It is our hope that these materials will present meaningful opportunities for students to contemplate and discuss the power of historical movies and documentaries in the classroom. The movie thumbnails below are arranged by the films' chronological settings.
